How swimming can improve your social life

The last couple of years have been pretty awkward for all. The pandemic crisis came out of nowhere and changed almost all aspects of our daily lives. Quite naturally our social life was shattered due to social distancing. As vaccination proceeds though, there seems to be a gradual return to the “old days”. Within the current more positive environment, swimming can be a great socialising factor for all.
The interaction in swim classes
Let's all agree to that: Personal interaction compares to nothing. There's no substitute for human contact either we talk at a personal or professional level. It's human nature. People are social beings and need to interact with other people. It's fundamental for their development and wellbeing. No chatting online, remote work or online learning equals the joy, fulfilment and learning that comes from face to face communication. When it comes to sports and fitness, like swimming, there's no objection at all: You just have to be in the swimming pool with your swim instructor. You can't learn how to swim by watching a video or online course. You need to feel the water and adjust your body movement in it. You must take into account the instructions of your swim coach. And you should enjoy every moment of it knowing that you can combine a life-saving skill with pleasure. When it comes to social interaction, team swim lessons can be even more attractive, albeit more demanding, due to the bigger number of participants. There are many examples of lifelong friendships that were formed in swim classes.
Getting on the beach again
Getting back on track after such a long time of social distancing is great news. Everybody wants to get together with other people, socialise and let the hard times behind. What is the best place to do that? All of us have our opinions and personal tastes about our favourite scenes, but there can't be any dispute that a beach is an ideal place for having a great time. There are various advantages: Its size, the open air, the relaxed attitude and the option of splashing whenever you wish are unique benefits for all beachgoers. Although summer's gone and quite naturally beaches will not be full, there's still the option of arranging short breaks with your loved ones. For many people who are not so fond of overcrowded places, this condition sounds even better. After all, quality relationships are not the outcome of how many people we know and hang around with, but rather of how well we communicate with them.
Swimming keeps your mind fresh and active
The benefits that swimming offers are unique. There's no doubt that all fitness activities are beneficial and provide certain positive effects: Burn off calories, stress relief, enhancement of stamina, to name a few. There is a certain distinguishing factor, though: Because swimming is low impact, it revitalises your mind as no other physical activity does. Water is the element that makes the whole difference. Its effect on boosting your energy and recharging your batteries is indeed great. This is why swimming is considered the top early morning activity. Because it's the perfect start for lifting you and preparing for a demanding day. And this is why a swimming session can be the perfect prelude for a great night out. Because stimulating your mental sharpness keeps you active and energetic. Such advantages are essential for maintaining and upgrading your social skills. Whether it's a business meeting or a romantic night out keeping high energy levels and expressing self-confidence are traits that can make a real difference.
Swimming creates communities
This is for the most engaged swimmers, but it's still a big fact: Swimming is a culture with many followers all over the world. And like any other culture, it creates communities. It can be the students of a swim school or just a couple of friends who visit different places to swim and can meet similar minded people. The case is always the same: The more competent swimmer you become, the more places you want to visit for swimming there. That's why people who are fond of swimming will most certainly choose a place that is surrounded by the sea for their summer holidays. The combination of doing what you love, with having the opportunity to communicate with other individuals who share the same passion, is amazing. The wealth of our relationships depends heavily on the common ground we share. There's little point in spending most of your energy trying to sort out the differences or possible misunderstandings that can occur among people with totally different inclinations. Sometimes, getting in the right surrounding with the right people can be a matter of practising what you love. Our social existence is linked to our inner selves and the feelings of joy we get by engaging in our favourite activities Realising that, can be a huge step for our total progression.
